Re-birth of the Dragon riders

Early, well not as early as it could have been due to the pressing matters, we needed to address. We both ate before traveling through the portal to meet with Sakare. Standing before him, he didn’t wait for us to speak. “I did not pry upon your conversation once you entered your chamber, as that discussion was between the two of you. Instead, I shall now ask, has the matter been decided upon?”

Lynette’s boldness surprised me, as she lifted her head to stare him in the eyes, “It has. We both were destined to this battle, and to each other. If we do not fully accept our destiny, then our destinies have been decided and we have already failed.”

“Then you accept your position as a Dragon rider, assuming the role of you mother as their Queen?”

“I do.”

“Step before me child, and I shall bequeath her memories and skills upon you.”

Hesitantly, she released my hand to step in front of him, gazing down upon her he drew in a deep breath before exhaling through his massive nostrils. Standing there her hair fluttered as if a strong breeze blew through it, before she collapsed upon a knee. Remembering the pain and utter confusion, I suffered upon Glentare’s memories, I stepped toward her, before Sakare stopped me. “What I bestowed upon her, is not as in-depth as what you experienced, DragonBorne. Hence, she must stand on her own accord if she is to become a Dragon rider.”

I wanted to hold and comfort her, but Sakare’s’ stare held me in check. The moments, turned to minutes, until nearly an hour later she rose to her feet. Then gazing up at Sakare, she whispered, “I understand.”

Tilting his head back, a shrill whistle escaped his lips, before he again looked down upon her, “Rest now, Queen of the Dragon riders to await her arrival. Her name, is Evamere, in honor of the one who fell. Do not fear her, as she will protect you with her life.

“DragonBorne, to my right is a bench overlooking the vast realm beneath us, assist her there then comfort and allow her memories to calm themselves. Evamere is distant, so her journey will give her queen time to settle her mind.”

Freed from the strength of his gaze, I was finally able to step beside her, offering the support of my arm. Together, we walked toward the bench in the distance, where I lowered her to finally sit and relax. We sat there for some time, before she gently shook her head, “If the memories he gave me, weren’t as in-depth as those you received, it’s a wonder your head didn’t explode.”

“Well, I will admit that it wasn’t my most pleasant experience. Even the following morning many of the them were still distorted, or more like fractured I should say. It will take time for them to fit together into cohesive memories, so until then just relax and don’t fight it.”

As it neared midday, I heard Sakare speak from behind us.
